Today is the second day of my second week on the Arbonne 30 days to healthy living cleanse.
Let’s start by expressing how this isn’t a typical detox/cleanse in that you don’t really have to deprive yourself of food! (Thank goodness!) There are just certain foods that are not good for your body, so this plan eliminates the foods your body doesn’t need. (Example: gluten, dairy, processed/refined sugars, and soy are just a few of the elements that are eliminated.).
The program includes daily shakes (2 flavors of protein powder), detox teas, fizz sticks (soda replacement, 2 flavors), fiber boost powder, digestion plus packs, metabolism boost pills, and a set of 7 day detox packets. Also, you get a weekly grocery list and recipes for meals! They even have a vegan plan every week for people that don’t eat meat. (I actually picked some meals off this list!!)
First, you should know I have a personal connection to my Arbonne consultant, and I have tried the shakes on multiple occasions; there is a reason I decided to do this cleanse! ๐ I know that I actually like the protein powder!! It is completely vegan and tastes really decent. (I prefer the vanilla and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good shake mix!)
Alright, now let’s get to my first week feels.. It was a bit rocky. I’m typically a pretty healthy eater, though I definitely suffer from a sweet tooth!!
The cravings the first week were not good.. as in I wanted a donut Every. Single. Day. I told myself on multiple occasions that it would be okay if I “cheated” a little bit.. and then I never did! <– seriously so proud of myself!!
Friday night we has supper with a friend.. at Texas Roadhouse. Watching my hubby consume that delicious butter with those amazing gluten-packed buns was TORTURE!! Buuuuut, I found something on the menu I could eat (salmon without the butter with a sweet potato and a house salad, no cheese with oil and vinegar on the side) I walked away from the meal feeling full. So, that’s a plus! But, I did focus on all the things everyone else was eating and didn’t feel satisfied.
Two other places we ate this weekend ended up being fantastic!
On Saturday I had a burrito bowl at our favorite burrito place in town (Moe’s Southwest Grill), and I LOVED it!! It was like a complete switch, that I didn’t see the meal as what I was missing out on but what I was gaining!
On Sunday, we went to late Mass and had supper at another one of my favorite places in town (Firehouse Subs). This was a bit tempting to walk into.. My favorite sub is about 880 calories. ๐ I had EVERY intention to order that meatball sub, too. Gluten and all. Buuuut, I made the last second decision to ask for a chopped salad with grilled chicken. Now, I’m not positive that the dressing was completely following the rules, but the entire (HUGE) salad was 330 calories. That’s a win enough for me! (I may have celebrated with a bite or two of J’s brownie ๐ oops…)
This week I am starting with a completely new mindset. We (the three Magees) have actually found one recipe from the meal list that will remain a staple in our kitchen. I will share it with you tomorrow!!
