Happy Weekend, lovelies!
I mentioned earlier this week that I went “junk-ing” for some home decor to change up my living space. I should probably specify what I mean when I say that. I actually mean to say, I go to a shop or show where vendors are selling repurposed or revamped vintage decor. I don’t do any of the real work, I let others do that so I can pick out pieces I would have otherwise never seen the potential in.
Believe me, I have ventured the idea of repurposing or revamping pieces myself.. I’m not into the whole process.. I LOVE the outcome, but I feel much better when someone else does it. I have more appreciation for it that way!
On a side note: I actually have antiqued a couple pieces of furniture (my coffee table, end tables, and dining room table). Maybe I will do a post on those later this spring when I finish my dining room chairs. I’ve had the paint since last fall, but I was too lazy to finish.. 😛
Now to the goods. The items I purchased were the black wire toolbox looking basket, the gold ram head bookends, the three vintage books of hymns, and the cream vase. Each piece has its own personality, and I couldn’t wait to get them home and display them! (All the antlers are real sheds my hubby has found.. grateful that he lets me make them “girly”)
All the vintage pieces I picked up last weekend are from a small shop in Mayville, North Dakota called Mae’s Vintage Decor. If you’re in the area or just have and inkling for good, “junk” I suggest checking out this little shop. The three women that own and run it are the sweetest and they find and make the best stuff! They list the days they’re open on their Facebook page (usually one or two weekends a month, Friday through Sunday).
Thanks to HomeGoods, I purchased a couple rugs on Thursday. When I say a couple, I mean four… One of which, I have used on the coffee table!
I also picked up a new shower curtain! I love that I opted for light colors in the bathroom this time, it gets so gloomy when there are no windows! I guess that’s one of the sacrifices you make when you’re still apartment living..
Word to the wise: I always go to the bi-annual Junk Market, hosted by Eco Chic Boutique here in Fargo, so you will see more antique-y or farmhouse-inspired pieces in the near future. (Mae’s Vintage Decor will have a booth at Junk Market for this year’s spring show.)
How do you find your vintage decor? Let me know in the comments!
