It’s officially summertime as of yesterday!
One thing I actually pay attention to in the summer months that I typically neglect all winter long, is nail polish. I love having a pretty pop of color on my fingers for all my summer shenanigans!
Something I’ve decided to do differently this summer is — skip the salon. What? Yes. I typically get a mani/pedi combo every 2 weeks during the summer months because I’m a lazy person. This year, I say, no more! No more wasting $75 on both a manicure and pedicure, when I am perfectly capable of buying a $9 polish at the store and painting it on myself. I’m going to have so much extra cash for “saving.” More like spending on sneakers as I’ve bought two new pairs in the last couple weeks..
I thought it would be fun to share the colors I’m crushing on this summer! I’ve already tried three of these polishes and the other two are on my line-up for the following weeks.

So, let’s start with the three colors currently in my summer 2017 collection: Essie’s play date & marshmallow, and Sally Hansen’s rebel red.
I got the purple shade during graduation season as a spur of the moment decision. My nails were plain and gross and my sister was graduating from high school. I needed a color, and my eyes went straight for this lovely purple! I was not disappointed in the color at all, it’s so summery and bright, and looks amazing with navy.
The next color I knew I needed was a classic white. This shade from Essie is the perfect color for your toes! I am in love with the look in sandals, it just dresses up the entire ensemble. I think I will continue to use this shade on my toes for the rest of the summer.
A color I thought would be perfect for this upcoming Fourth of July festivities is only $2.99 at Ulta. This red from Sally Hansen’s hard as nails collection is the perfect poppy color! Using this with an accent of the Marshmallow white or even the Turquoise from Kendra Scott would make for the perfect Independence Day manicure!
Speaking of Kendra Scott’s Turquoise.. were you aware that Kendra Scott came out with a Nail Lacquer collection!? I just found this out about a month ago and have been going back and forth about the colors I want to invest my mulah in. I decided to share the colors I’m pretty positive will be ordered within the week. This Slate Gray is amazing! I love grey. It’s so versatile and this would even work on my toes, maybe?
The Turquoise option is beautiful and so trendy right now. I’ve always had a love for turquoise. I remember growing up loving the part of my heritage that is of Chippewa decent. The Natives use turquoise stones in the most beautiful ways. I can’t wait to order both of these shades. There will definitely be a little review on the Kendra Scott collection in the months to come!
