August 31, 2015 was one day that changed my life FOREVER!
We got to the hospital for my induction at about 12:00 p.m. and started the pitocin around 1:00 p.m.. Everything started very fast, the contractions came and came until they were overlapping! I needed meds.. seriously. I don’t know how those teenage girls give birth on bathroom floors on prom night because it is PAINFUL. But anyway, I believe it was around 3:00 p.m. that the anesthesiologist paid his much requested visit, and man was he good. It took about 5 minutes before I couldn’t feel my waist and it just kept getting better from there. Though, I ended up having to turn down the drugs to know when I was having contractions when it was time to push, which was about 7:15 p.m..
My nurse was a doll, she coached me through every push and let me “relax” in between contractions. It was almost two hours of pushing before they realized Mr. Lew was crooked. Luckily, my doctor realized this mistake and was able to turn him before he came into the world…. didn’t stop him from having a super swollen head with a large hematoma.. but it could have been way worse!
It was 9:14 p.m. and I was a mother. And it was perfect.
Seven pounds and fourteen point eight ounces of pure love. My life felt complete. That is until they took my sweet blue-eyed infant away to the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). He spent the following three days there waiting for a negative blood culture report. On the third day we got to bring him home and snuggle him close!
Well, that’s the birth story of my sweet Lewi Gordinn, the second best day of my life and I can’t wait to do it all again!
