Hello Lovely!
It’s been awhile and there are some things to talk about starting with the fact that I haven’t posted since before we shared our big news!
As I’m sure you all know by now, Justin and I did our gender reveal at Lewi’s birthday party two weekends ago. We are blessed with a growing baby girl due December 10, 2017. The playing field is finally evening, and there will be a little more estrogen in the Magee house. I can’t wait!
Eventually, I will start posting more baby related criteria in the coming weeks, but for today I wanted to stick to all things Fall.
I was scrolling through my News Feed the other day, and one of my besties was asking advice from her followers about what fall color she should try on her nails. Her post got me to thinking about the colors that go with specific times and seasons.
Being the crazy colorist I am, I decided to take a look at Pantone’s color palette of the season. The color expert for Fall of 2017 made two different palettes, one geared towards New York style and the other catered towards the styles of Paris.
I decided to take options from both palettes and come up with a guide to reference according to the week you get your nails done! I encourage you to try out a couple different hues, if not all of them!
Marina: Sally Hansen/Sugar Fix | Golden Lime: Butter London/British Khaki | Lemon Curry: OPI/Curry Yellow | Autumn Maple: Kendra Scott/Goldstone | Shaded Spruce: OPI/Deep, Lush Green | Tawny Port: Butter London/Toff | Otter: OPI/Taupe | Butterum: OPI/Tanacious Spirit
To me, every season has a mood. There is personality to every month, holiday, and season we go through. With this notion, I’ve decided to break-up the next two months by week.
Starting with next week (Sept. 17), Marina would make for the perfect summer fading into fall color. The weather will still be too warm for sweaters and scarves, but the date will be too late for shorts and flip flops. This beautiful shade of blue will dazzle on your nails!
For the week of September 24, the shade named Golden Lime will take your nails all the way from the lingering vibes of summer into the full-swing effects of fall. This light olive-y option will be the perfect accent to those cargo vests that are currently hiding in your closet, and we all know they’re going to the front of your closet as soon as the weather permits.
The first week of October calls for the currently trending Lemon Curry shade that is popping up all over Instagram! This mustard-like color wreaks of fall. I just got a fall floral dress in this tone, and I love it so much!
In the week of October 8, I picked the signature color of the month. It isn’t hard to see why Autumn Maple is a trending color for this fall season. You can’t go the month of October without a little orange in your wardrobe! This shade is dull and burnt, and it should really be renamed to Pumpkin Spice.
I picked Shaded Spruce for the third week of October because it reminds me of a blue-toned hunter green, which looks great on your feet. I’m not referring to the nails on your toes, I’m referring to boots! Rain boots! Hunter rain boots! Coordinate those nails to your favorite footwear of the season.
When getting into the spirit of Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown, the shade named Tawny Port comes to mind. It’s the perfect shade to bring out the witch in you, and possibly take you through Halloween!
The week of October 29 transitions to the first week of November. My choice of the shade Otter reflects the month of November. For me, November is the month of neutrals. The dark neutrals that you love you own. Taupes, greys, blacks, dark browns, etc. This cool shade will prepare your soul for turkey season!
Moving into the the week of November 5, I picked another great fall neutral bestowed the name of Butterum. To be honest, it makes me think of Harry Potter, and my favorite times in the book series are always before Christmas break when they guzzle loads of pumpkin juice and butterbeer. This neutral will go with your favorite fall sweater, leggings, an oversized scarf, and tall boots. After all, it is the go-to look of the season!
I hope you enjoyed these shades and will try some out on your nails this fall!
What’s your favorite fall shade? Let me know in the comments!
