Hello, lovely readers!
I hope you’re having a great week, so far. We are having a good week in the Magee house. There haven’t been too many tantrums and we’re really cracking down on what behaviors are and are not appropriate for our little guy.
He’s learning slowly, but surely. I think it’s all in repetition. Really, I’m learning to be more patient, and that’s something I’ve struggled with a little. So, this is actually really good for Mom, too!
As I type this, I may or may not be belting out the lyrics to “Stand By Your Man,” by Tammy Wynette, but who’s to say?
With graduation season in full swing, I’ve decided to compile a list of my top picks for you to wear to any Commencement ceremonies in your near future.
This graduation season is a little tough for me, as it was supposed to be my college graduation semester. It’s also the year my little sister graduates from high school, and that pulls at the heart strings a little bit. It’s bittersweet to know she will be starting her first semester of college this fall.
Enough gushy crap, let’s talk about clothes!
When attending a graduation ceremony, it’s important to dress for the venue. Since ceremonies are typically held indoors, you can typically get away with going sleeveless. It’s wise to know where you will be headed after the actual graduation, a change of clothes may be the best solution for your after party event.
I know that my sister’s graduation party will take place at my parent’s house and we will be spending the entire day there. This means we will dress up for the ceremony get as many pictures as possible, and then change our little Lew into something comfortable and casual so he can jump on the trampoline, drink stain colored punch, and play with all of his second cousins, as any toddler should.
For me, this means bringing a change of clothes for later in the day when we light the bonfire and play yard games with all the family and friends that know how to party. (If you’re confused about my plans, I grew up in the country. We had bonfires, rode any ATV we had on-hand, and learned how to party at a young age.)
Let’s talk color!
I am currently crushing on blues. Some of my favorites include: periwinkle, turquoise, and navy. Other colors trending this season include: blush, sage, lemon, chartreuse, peach, coral, poppy, ivory, royal blue, fuchsia, and magenta. I definitely recommend not limiting yourself to pastels. Though we are still in spring, this is the time to start embracing more vibrant hues!
Now onto style.
I’m a fairly short person (only 5’2″), so I don’t typically like to wear maxi dresses, but sometimes I can find the right fit! There is always tailoring, if a style is just a tish too long. Another thing I like to remember is that you don’t have to limit yourself to dresses only! I love a good jumpsuit or romper, as long as it fits the occasion. I am actually big into rompers, and think that may be the route I go for my sister’s commencement.

It’s common to forget about some of the other important factors of your attire. Try to make sure you will be comfortable in whatever footwear you decide on. If you will be in it for a while, it’s more important. Try a dressy flat or a nice wedge. For short girls, like me, a wedge is perfect!
Dress up or down your look with fun or simple jewelry. If you have a fun neckline, I recommend skipping out the necklace and just opting for fun earrings! You can never go wrong with a Kendra Scott style, just saying.
Above all, have fun assembling your look. This will take some stress away and keep you looking refreshed!
Next Tuesday is my two-year anniversary being Mrs. Magee, so there will be a tribute post to my marriage. Also, I have taken on a new role as writing a post once a month for another website and my first featured post will be up some time today, so check out the Facebook page for the update on that!
until then,
xo, Tay
