Hello, Lovely!
As many of you are either at your Independence Day destination or traveling, I’m sure you’ve already had your bag packed for days!
I wanted to put together a quick little list of items I try to always pack when I’m going to the lake. Originally, I had the intentions of sharing this list with you yesterday, but thought hey why not share some more lake joy today!
I hope you’re reading this post from the comfort of a cabin, pontoon, or dock while enjoying your morning cup of joe. There’s absolutely nothing better than that first sip of coffee while looking out on the lake. Someone should tell Lizzie that that’s really what dreams are made of!
Something I always keep in mind while packing for our lake-cation is comfort. I’ll be sharing our experience sometime next week, and you will see that I don’t dress for Instagram while I’m lounging in the cabin or paddle boarding on the lake!
As a fashion blogger, this is probably the wrong route to go, but as a mom it’s the only way I know! Plus, the extra bit of discomfort from being an expectant mama has me wanting all the joggers and pullovers.
I’ve included more than clothing in this “What to Pack” list, and I hope you enjoy!
boater hat | joggers | sandals | beach towel | beach blanket | float | beach ball | cooler tote | long sleeve pullover| sweater | cut-offs | swimsuit | sunnies | sunscreen
A couple pieces I always try to include in my luggage with the intention of taking my ensembles from every day mom to fashion blogger include: an oversized holey sweater, cut-off denim shorts, fashion sunnies, and a cute sun hat. My reasoning goes as follows —
- Oversized Sweater: I always pack a lightweight, oversized sweater in a neutral color to throw on over my suit while I’m out of the water. This adds a bit of style to my suit and replaces a standard cover-up. It looks more stylish and effortless! The sweater I linked to this post is actually the exact one I brought on this trip, it’s on MAJOR sale at the moment and would be perfect to snatch up for the rest of your summer lake/beach days.
- Cut-off Denim Shorts: I don’t really think this piece needs more explanation. It’s possible to wear these shorts with your suit, with your suit and the oversized sweater, with a sweatshirt, with a t-shirt, and the list goes on and on because they’re denim. It’s just smart to own a good pair of denim shorts that you feel comfortable and confident in!
- Sunnies: When packing for the lake, I opt to keep my $300 Dolce & Gabbana’s at home in their case and go with a less expensive option. The sunnies I included in this list are under $15 and almost identical to the pair I purchased in a cute little boutique on Wednesday.
- Sun Hat: Alright, as I’ve said time and time again, I am a fedora kind of girl. I typically stay away from other sun hat shapes, but look at the cute details of this little wicker hat! It makes for the perfect accessory to finish an outfit, or to just pair with your suit while you’re out on the water taking in the sun!
The other pieces and items listed in this post are all perfect for fun in the water time this summer!
All the fun floats and blow-up accessories for play time in the pool or lake are great ice-breakers and party starters. Sunscreen is essential to any outdoor play, so make sure to lather-up!
Beach towels and blankets are great accessories for the boat or shore, and give you that extra coverage from the wind.
A swimsuit is obviously essential when going to the lake or beach. The other clothing pieces I included are my go-tos for lounging in the cabin! Comfy joggers paired with a long sleeve pullover with a catchy phrase is the perfect combo for any lazy occasion.
One of my favorite items from the list is the Cooler Tote from Vera Bradley. I just got my own this summer and I use it constantly! It keeps milk and water cool, and makes for the best lake accessory if you bring your lunch to the beach!
I hope you all have a splendid weekend full of making memories!
