Today I am reflecting on my past weekend.
I had the opportunity to get out of the apartment and join Papa Bear for a day without our cub! (Which, let’s be honest, always sounds way easier than it is! I was having Lewi withdrawals by the end of the day!)It didn’t help to see all of the ADORABLE little ones learning how to ski and snowboard! It only made me miss my Little Lew more and more! It did make me excited to start planning to take him on those baby hills, though.
We traveled a little over half an hour to our man-made slopes.I started the day with the intentions of snowboarding.. I mean, LOOK at those snow pants! Those were made for gnarly snowboarding queens! I, however, am not one.
It took about 20 minutes, three tumbles down the bunny hill, and an unintentional attempt to bend my legs far enough back to touch my forehead with the snowboard before I gave up and traded in for a pair of skis.
Let’s just say, I was pleasantly surprised in myself. And let me just add, that I loved it!
I never went down more than the beginner runs, but I was so proud of how confident I felt going down those courses! Can I just hug myself? (I really don’t need your approval, so I’m just going to hug myself now..)I wish I had taken a picture from the lift, but let’s face it.. I would have definitely dropped my phone 50 feet from the ground and broken it.. (Maybe I will use J’s next time.. 😉 )  Overall, I had a great experience and was a little disappointed when I found out Lewi’s shoe size is still two sizes away from the smallest ski boots they rent out! Fingers crossed that he will fit into them next year. (I’m not crazy to bring a two year old! They wouldn’t make boots that small if I was the only person to start my kid that young!!)
My in-laws were so pleased to hear about our experience (they were watching Lewi for us) that we have planned a follow-up trip for two weekends from now, taking turns with Lew in the lodge, of course! But, maybe I will attempt those intermediate runs next time..
Are you team ski or snowboard? Let me know in the comments, and don’t forget to subscribe happy people!
