It’s almost Friday!
Today is our first day without J. I am loathing the anticipation from 5:00 pm – Lew’s bedtimes when he will stare at the door waiting for his daddy to come home. I wish I could help him to understand that he isn’t gone forever. It breaks my heart every time we have to go through this same ordeal!
Anyway, yesterday I talked about getting the designer look for less in jewelry. Well, today I was inspired by yesterday’s idea and decided to go a couple steps further in showing you exactly how to get a designer look on an “only essentials” budget! This is also a step in the direction I want to move my entire blog niche to because who doesn’t want to look like a professional blogger on a stay-at-home mom’s budget!?
Major Trend ALERT: Everything picked for these two outfits is currently hot in fashion!
Designer · Blouse: VETIVER | Jeans: JOE’S JEANS | Espadrilles: MARC FISHER | Earrings: KENDRA SCOTT | Sunglasses: KAREN WALKER | Shoulder bag: CHLOE
Dupes · Blouse: SHE IN | Jeans: STS BLUE | Espadrilles: STEVE MADDEN | Earrings: TARGET | Sungalsses: BP. | Shoulder bag: GOODNIGHT MACAROON
Who says you can’t look chic on a budget? Could you even tell which pieces were more expensive if I’d not attached their price tag?
I mean, the quality of the CHLOE bag verse the dupe is going to be pretty obvious in person, but when you don’t have $1500 to drop on a handbag, the $70 inspired bag starts to look pretty good!
Obviously the same will go for the sunglasses and earrings. You do get what you pay for, but if you’re one of those “no-no” outfit repeaters, why spend an arm and a leg while breaking your back to pay for the lush pieces?
I am definitely NOT saying that you should feel bad for splurging on the pieces you really want! For instance: I am getting this style Marc Fisher wedge verses the less expensive Steve Madden style. I am not saying there is anything wrong with the Steve Madden espadrilles, I’ve just wanted the more expensive style long enough to know they are worth it. The funny thing is that they’re actually a dupe for this style.
I would also LOVE to try on the designer label jeans. I don’t typically spend much on my jeans (I’m guilty of running to American Eagle every time I need a new pair). But after losing weight I would really like to treat my new “Mom Bod” to some good denim. Denim is typically something I need to try on before I make a purchase, so finding this exact style in Fargo, ND may be a challenge.. (Luckily, I am taking a trip to the cities in two weeks and will have a chance to hit-up Nordstrom!)
I hope you enjoyed a little designer vs. dupe. I am always looking to save a buck and stay on budget, so you can count on more savings friendly fashion in the future!
Are there any designer pieces you love, but just feel like you’ll never be able to afford? Let me know in the comments!
