Hello Lovely!
Today I am sharing the details to an infant milk bath, using breast milk!
My mother looked at me like I was crazy for using my pumped milk in a bath. To her, it seemed silly that I would “waste” my liquid gold on something other than food. I totally understand the reaction, pumping is HARD work.
This, however, is a completely different scenario. Breast milk use on the skin and hair has magical healing powers! Well, I don’t know if I’d say “magical powers” but it does have many benefits. I didn’t realize that baby skin could get any softer until after Cece’s first milk bath!
For this bath, I only used 2 ounces of breast milk. It was actually left over from two previous bottles that were left out at room temperature too long for reuse. So, instead of dumping that overexposed milk, I saved it and got more use from it!
This also rings true for contaminated milk. There is no need to “pump and dump” when you can save your undrinkable milk and use it for a bath! Can I get a hallelujah?
I haven’t started drinking yet, but when I do decide to have that first glass of wine or marg on Cinco de Mayo, I will be saving my expressed milk for a milk bath.
Now to the details!
So, as I mentioned before, I only needed 2 ounces of milk for this particular bath. It will definitely depend on your sink size (or whatever you use for your infant’s baths). You only need enough milk to make the water murky. That’s it!
Because it barely takes any milk, it won’t feel like a waste if you are using fresh milk.
Before you add the milk to the water, be sure that your infant has been washed and rinsed. We use ABC Arbonne Baby Care Hair & Body Wash or Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Shampoo and Wash.
After your little one has been sudsed up and rinsed off, pour your milk into the tub/sink and continuously run the water over your babe’s skin and hair.
Once you feel like your chickee has been bathed long enough, take her out and pat her dry. Finish with lotion! We use ABC Arbonne Baby Care Body Lotion or Burt’s Bees Baby Bee Original Nourishing Lotion.
Easy Peasy!
I think once every other week is a good milk bath regime. Cece is about due for another, and I can’t wait. She LOVES baths, and I LOVE her soft skin!
Do you have any other uses for breast milk? Let me know in the comments!
