Hello my lovely people!
I just wanted to let you guys know about one of the snacks that is getting me through this tougher cleanse week.
First off, the reason this week is a little harder on my body is because I am to be drinking a detox mix with 32 ounces of water daily for seven days. The water/detox mixture has to be sipped over a span of at least 4 hours, it’s recommended to be closer to 8.
It hasn’t been hard on my body in that I feel sick or gross, it’s actually made it hard for me to have an appetite while I’m consuming it.. sooooo getting my calories in has been a bit of a struggle.
Then, after I’ve finished the mixture and have eaten my supper, I’m finding myself still hungry some nights. That is where my protein bars come into play! (That and when I’m craving something sweet and delicious!)
I’m actually not even kidding. I’m not trying to sell anyone on this company, I have no affiliation with them at all. But, I actually really really enjoy these protein bars.. and so do my boys! Both Justin and Lewi LOVE these! (And I can’t even express how much of a relief it is to feed something that is actually healthy for my picky toddler to eat!)
As shown in the photos, I’ve found it a bit easier to cut them up into tiny pieces and just grab a little less than a handful when I’m hungry or on the go. They are easier to feed to Lewi that way, less messy!
The recipe calls for Arbonne’s protein powder, you are definitely welcome to try any other peaplant based protein powder, but I can only vouch for the Arbonne brand!
Recipe:
2 cups Organic Almond Butter (16 oz)
1 3⁄4 cups Brown Rice Syrup (14 oz)…. I used Organic Honey
2 1⁄4 cups Arbonne Protein (9 scoops)
3 cups Organic brown rice (or flax) cereal or Gluten Free oats << what I used
Directions:
Mix nut butter Brown Rice Syrup in microwavable bowl.
Heat for 60-90 seconds. Mix well.
Add Protein Powder and mix well.
Add oats and mix gently.
Spread in 9×13 pan.
Refrigerate 1 hour. Cut into 24 squares.
For firm bars, store in fridge, for gooey bars, store room temp.
It is recommended to use brown rice syrup while on the cleanse because we are really cutting out sugar and sweeteners, but I couldn’t find it on my grocery hunt so I substituted with Organic honey.. which means I can only eat them very sparingly.. 🙁
Anyway, I hope you are able to try this recipe for it has surely helped me out! And when J and I celebrated 8 years of being together on Tuesday (Jan. 24, 2017) it made the perfect celebration dessert!
If you are able to try out this recipe let me know how it goes!
xo, Tay
