Hello Lovely!
The Easter season is upon us and coming to an end.
Like I mentioned last week, Easter is the most important holiday in the Christian faith. I mean if it weren’t for Easter, we wouldn’t have Christianity at all! Some people tend to forget its significance, placing it behind Christmas when in real actuality, it is the most significant holiday we have!
This year is the first year I will receive the Eucharist as a Catholic. What does this mean? I will be confirmed into the Catholic church this weekend. My sister keeps teasing me that I’m getting baptized. I tried explaining to her that I am already a baptized Christian, just like her. But, like her, I was confirmed into the Lutheran church and now I am converting from Lutheranism to Catholicism. Therefore, I am getting confirmed… again… but this time as a Catholic!
Because I have been focusing so much on this part and not really thinking about the frilly and “fun” customs that come with Easter I have overlooked something I’m usually on top of. Easter baskets. Oh my, have I fallen behind in the small things this year with three littles!
We did actually bring the kids to see the Easter bunny this year. It wasn’t planned at all though! We were going to eat lunch at the mall before our weekend grocery run, and met my mom and sister while we were there. That’s when I remembered Easter baskets, and my mom asked if we’d brought the kids to the Easter bunny yet! Luckily, she was at the mall and we just strolled the kids over for a quick picture. For Cece it was anything but quick. haha. She had a little bit of a hard time.
Since I just remembered baskets and still have yet to finish mine, I thought I’d share some of my favorite finds from past years that would be perfect add-ins or main gifts for your little’s Easter basket!
First of all what would Easter be without Jesus!? There wouldn’t be one, so add this sweet little stuffed Jesus doll to your kid’s basket and be prepared to fall in love! Cece got this very doll last year, and it’s the sweetest thing to watch her carry him around. You will NOT regret this purchase.
Second, if you have a brand new little this Easter season a rattle would be very appropriate. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a sweeter rattle than this bashful beige bunny! That’s a mouthful of B’s. haha. I love Jellycat plush stuffed animals, if we weren’t on a stingy budget as we pay off our debts I would splurge on a new big plush stuffed animal for each of the kids! But, if you’re following along with my Instagram, you’ll know we’re in the process of a Total Money Makeover as instructed by Dave Ramsey.
Third, Mary had a little lamb that’s fleece was white as snow, but this little lamb has the CUTEST grey accents and would fit perfectly into your little’s basket! This small lamb is plush and pretty. He could fit perfectly into any diaper bag and travel well in the car, plus he’s under $10 so SCORE!
Fourth, this season is anything but dry! There is a NEED for rain boots. Lewi’s favorite thing to wear are rubber boots!! This kid would never take them off if he didn’t have acute OCD. haha. I’m also not trying to be cute, the kid makes you take off your shoes when you enter our house. He will harass you until you do so! These sweet little wellington style boots come in SOOO many prints, that you will be sure to find something for your child. They also range from a size toddler 4 to a big kid 4 (which might just fit my feet, and it might be fun to have a pair of mermaid boots!).
Fifth, and finally, what would spring be without the colorful sidewalk evidence of a sunny day!? These sidewalk chalk eggs would go perfectly in any Easter basket. I can’t wait to draw up and down our walkway and drive with the kids this spring. I know they are going to LOVE it!
To complete baskets, I typically fill in the remainder of the basket with Marshmallow Peeps, Cadbury Eggs, and other seasonal treats!
I hope you found some of this list helpful, and a great reminder to finish your Easter baskets. I have something coming to the blog tomorrow that has been much awaited since the first spring I started blogging!
