Good morning!
Today is a great day, regardless of the weather. Nothing can get me down today because it is my two year anniversary as Justin Magee’s wife.
I sent a picture of a certain vintage Louis Vuitton bag to him to hint at some “Awesome Wife Gift” ideas.. we’ll see if that went over well! 🙂 It’s doubtful, but a girl can dream!
I know I’ll be nostalgic all day. Listening to our wedding song playlist on my Spotify, looking at pictures, and daydreaming about all the little things that just fell into place.
In spirit of this day, I thought I’d share some of the details from our big day with you!
I should first tell you that our wedding was very, VERY vintage. Like the real kind of vintage. Not the modern version of vintage. We got married in the same tiny church as my grandparents. We had three bridesmaids and three groomsmen. No flower girls or ring bearers. And our hair was straight from the 1960s.
Let’s jump into the first item on the list: Spotify Playlist. You can look my name (Taylor Magee) up on the Spotify app and listen to my album titled, “Wedding Ceremony,” if you’d like to listen for yourself! I didn’t even know that you could listen to people’s playlists until last year when I had reps in the music business reaching out to me about my Christmas album, “Jingle Bell Rock.” It was then that I realized like over 4,000 people followed that playlist! That is the only one that’s really taken off, but it’s all good. I didn’t make my lists for that reason anyway. LOL
Alright, back to my wedding playlist. If you don’t choose to creep my Spotify, I will just list the songs as they were played! The songs are mostly modern, but all have a very vintage-y sound.
• Syrup & Honey by Duffy — Our Parents and Grandparents walked into the church as this song played overhead.
•Flightless Bird, American Mouth by Iron & Wine — The wedding party followed by me walked in to Iron & Wine. Try not to cry picturing it. It’s how Bella walked to Edward. (Twilight was our thing in high school)
•What Can I Do (But Love You) by Joy Williams — The song that played as we lit the Unity candle. (We could still do that in our small town church.)
•Love Bug by Jonas Brothers — This is the song I always wanted to walk out of my wedding to, so we did. And it was perfect because it added that little bit of rock guitar solo we were missing. I’m a rock band kind of girl. 🙂
•Love Remains the Same (acoustic version) by Gavin Rossdale — Our first dance as Mr. & Mrs.. Awh, the memories this song brings back are full of young love and hot breathy kisses. To be 17 and in love again. This has been our song since the night we started dating January 24, 2009.
•Sweet Child O Mine by Taken by Trees — It may not be Guns N’ Roses, but it’s the perfect complimentary song to our theme. And, I couldn’t imagine dancing with my Daddy to any other song. It was perfect.
•What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong — I can’t leave out the song Justin waltzed with his mom to. He’s such a lovely dancer. It makes me fall in love with him all over again.
So, those were the songs that made my wedding all the better. I used to have this vision for my wedding with all these classical songs played on the piano, very Cathedral appropriate. I’m so glad that we didn’t get married that way.
Now, if you’re still with me and want to see some pictures.. let’s do that! Cue the tears.

The first seven photos above were all taken by our wedding photographer. I added the last image because it’s the only one that shows the pattern on my dress! My dress was white satin with a blush cherry blossom pattern allover. It was accented with a blush sash, that I had sewn onto my waist.
Luckily, I worked at a bridal store while I was in college, and was able to be my own stylist when I purchased my dress. I knew I wanted a blush dress in some way, and am so pleased with how the color was incorporated into the dress.
I made sure to include pictures of the church, so you could really see how tiny and old it truly is! They are actually in the last year of worship in the facility, once the new year hits it will only be used for special occasions (weddings, funerals, and baptisms).
The venue was perfect with how simple we wanted it to be. We were in love, and at the end of the day we were married. That’s all that mattered to us. We didn’t stress over little details because they didn’t matter, which is pretty crazy considering I was six months pregnant and should have been really hormonal! (If you look at the picture of Justin and I cutting our cake you can see for yourself.)
Speaking of cake! My mother-in-law is a master baker. She literally makes the best cakes in the world, and I don’t even really like cake. Knowing this, I HAD to do something fun with cake. We decided to have a cake buffet of vintage styled round cakes. Some of the 16 different flavors included: vanilla chai, chocolate-peanut butter, red velvet, lemon, and chocolate mint.
It was a very unique way of filling our guests with the goods! And, we didn’t even have leftovers! Did I mention that our “small” guest list included the bare minimum of people that needed to be invited, and we still ended up with 250 guests? That’s what happens when you marry into my family.
We also had a popcorn bar thanks to one of Justin’s aunts. That went over very well, too!
Overall, it was perfect. There wasn’t a single thing I would have changed about our day. I’m still so in love with the man I married, that I couldn’t even imagine it any other way. I can’t wait for the anniversaries, babies, grandbabies, and years to come.
I love you, Justin Magee, and I am so proud to call you my husband.
Thanks for reading,
xo, Tay
