Have you ever watched a television show or movie and wished you could dress like a certain character? Maybe a character that is absolutely NOTHING like you? Well, I do that all the time.
In this look, I tackled the style of Spinelli from the Saturday morning cartoon, Recess.

I got this dress over the weekend at the store closing sale of our local Wet Seal (literally haven’t shopped at this place since freshman year of college, but hey it was a close-out sale!). It’s actually really sad to think one of the places I loved to shop at in junior high and high school doesn’t exist anymore! I can remember all the random things I purchased there; like a mint and gold cat watch, my favorite denim jacket (pictured above, 4 years old), and a super funky cream beanie with two poms on the top. If you follow my instastories or snapchat (@thatnodakgirl) you may have seen that beanie! I actually love it…
Back to my post, so I purchased this dress on Saturday for $8.. SAY WHAT!? As soon as I picked it up I wasn’t really sure, but I ended up getting it in two colors. 🙂 It’s not really my basic style, so I surprised myself when I put it in my checkout pile.
As soon as I got it home, I had already grabbed my denim jacket to place over it. It snowed and temp dropped over the weekend so I needed a hat/beanie. (I also got the black beanie in the sale..) It just went together so perfectly.. I didn’t want to soften the outfit with shoes, so I went with these Timberland dupes.
I saw this Spinelli styled ensemble and was in love. It wasn’t really me at all, but somehow it was.
I love dark lipstick. I have such a pale complexion that it’s hard to find the right shade, but burgundy always looks flawless. I think I have four different brands of burgundy lipstick… Luckily for me, this dark color still stays true to the character of Spinelli… I mean she was only a fourth grader in the show, but I’m assuming the 22 year old Spinelli would rock a dark lip on the daily.
